America Has Spoken – Redistribute the Wealth!
Late in the evening of November 6th, many of us were stunned and disappointed that Mitt Romney had lost the election to Barack Obama. Having thought that just maybe this might be the time that correct principles could begin to be restored to American government, many of us were excited about the prospects. Even some pollsters gave us hope. We began to envision what could happen if Mitt Romney and others gradually began to stop the fiscal bleeding of our nation, re-build our weakened military, and restore confidence of other nations about America’s resolve to be the hope of the world. All of a sudden things turned black and in a few minutes the realization set in that it was not going to happen the way we had hoped. It has taken several days to let the hurt diminish somewhat and to come to a realization that the forces of anti-freedom and anti-constitutionalism in our beloved America are much deeper entrenched than we wanted to admit.
I have personally been involved with many groups all over this land whose optimism about the election and the change of direction were also very high. I have never been in more assemblies where the hopes and sincere prayers to God were as heart-felt and pleading as I have during the last year. Somehow, we had prayed, God must see our plight and intervene as miraculously as He did in colonial days. After all, our freedom is just as much in peril as in colonial days, is it not? Millions of people had great hope that this would be the time for a resurgence of true patriotism and America just might be on the road to recovery if we could prevail at this election. Otherwise, the very worst of scenarios will be upon us.
Apparently, most Americans are not ready for a change!
After the hurt subsided somewhat, and seeing the results in both national and local elections, the realization came that the people of this land are not really ready to accept a change of direction and they certainly are not willing to make the sacrifice which will be necessary for real change to take place.
Over half of the American populace is on some sort of federal subsidy or welfare, living off the sweat of another man’s brow, and for the most part thinking the government owes it to them.
Our national debt is at least 16 trillion dollars-such a staggering amount that nothing but real sacrifice of the American people can even begin to make significant reductions to it.
We are indebted, economically and by treaty, to many foreign countries who do not believe as we do in individual, unalienable rights and therefore can hold us hostage because of our reliance upon them for our very survival.
There was not the courage manifested by the people in many states to make the needed changes in the U. S. Senate which would have helped a new president make the changes he was promising to make.
The national media, to a large extent, were victorious in their very anti-American positions and thus were successful in swaying voters in favor of their views. They will continue to smash all who resist them.
What if the Romney-Ryan team would have won?
If the Romney-Ryan team would have somehow squeaked out a victory in the election, it seems clear that they would not have been able to accomplish what they promised they would do. They would have been faced with the ever-growing demands of the majority of the people fueled by an hysterical press, bringing to pass the undeniable result proclaimed two hundred years ago by historian Alexander Tyler, as he explained what happens when a republic devolves into a democracy:
"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until [a majority of] the voters discover they can vote themselves largesse [gifts] from the public treasury. From that moment on the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy [taxing and spending], always followed by a dictatorship. The average life of the world's greatest civilizations has been two hundred years."
Think of what it will be like in the coming days and years in America as the majority of Americans now on the government dole continue to demand more and more. When the money runs out and there is no place to borrow more, and when the destructive policies of the Federal Reserve create so much inflation that it throws the nation into a state of economic paralysis, not even a person skilled in leadership could persuade the revolting masses to listen to reason. Governor Romney himself raised the warning voice many times that unless America changes course we will follow the example of Greece with its hungry, rioting people.
Yes, if Romney-Ryan would have won, given the unwillingness of the American masses to change, they would have been mired in an unwinnable mess, and would have forever been blamed for its worsening. Surely a gracious Lord, Whose ways are higher than our ways and Whose thoughts and knowledge of the human situation are higher than ours, was merciful in not granting our pleading wish for a victory in the election of 2012.
Such a thought brings to mind the expression of former Secretary of Agriculture Ezra Taft Benson, who was the only cabinet member in the Eisenhower administration to survive all eight years with President Eisenhower. After describing the extreme difficulty he faced with the ever-advancing socialistic trends in our country, even as far back as the 1950s, he proclaimed his belief that this country:
“…will not be saved in Washington. It will be saved by the citizens of this nation who love and cherish freedom. It will be saved by…men and women who will subscribe to and abide the principles of the Constitution.”
America’s Role in the Latter-Days
Perhaps we should remind ourselves of the unique mission of America as explained by those who founded it. The Founders’ study of the Bible, and particularly the prophecies of Moses, (whose image directly faces the Speakers platform in the U.S. House of Representatives today) instilled into their minds the most elevated aspirations for the role America was about to play in the world. For example, on May 8, 1783, Ezra Stiles, the President of Yale University, addressed the Governor and members of the state legislature on the subject: "The United States Elevated to Glory and Honor." In this talk, he made special reference to the prophecy which Moses made at the close of his earthly ministry. President Stiles declared:
"Here Moses, the man of God ... recapitulated and gave them a second publication of the sacred jural institute [legal declaration] delivered thirty-eight years before, with the most awful solemnity at Mount Sinai. A law dictated with sovereign authority by the Most High....
"God determined that a remnant should be saved ... recovered and gathered ... from the nations whither the Lord had scattered them in his fierce anger ... and multiply them over their fathers -- and rejoice over them for good, as he rejoiced over their fathers (Deuteronomy 30:3-9.)
"Then the words of Moses ... will be literally fulfilled; when this branch of the posterity of Abraham shall be nationally collected, and become a very distinguished and glorious people under the Great Messiah, the Prince of Peace.
"He will then make them high above all nations which he hath made in praise, and in name, and in honor,' and they shall become a holy people unto the Lord' their God."
John Adams caught the same spirit of the age when he said:
"I always consider the establishment of America with reverence and wonder, as the opening of a grand scene and design in Providence for the illumination of the ignorant, and the emancipation of the slavish part of mankind all over the earth."
The above pronouncements of Ezra Stiles and John Adams are only two of numerous expressions that can be cited concerning the belief that America has a great role to play in bringing to pass God’s plan for His children in our day and before the Second Coming of His Son. Millions of Americans also have this belief today but recognize our nation is bogged down in moral and social decay. It is understood that until America rids itself of this decay and returns to being a virtuous and moral people, America’s glorious destiny is on hold. In other words, a cleansing is absolutely necessary and is coming. Even Thomas Jefferson knew that when America rejected God, He would not tolerate it very long. Said he:
"I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that his justice cannot sleep forever."
The Cleansing of America for its future role
As any honest student of history knows, when God’s judgment comes upon a nation it is rather quick and final. It may take the form of a surprise attack with all the accompanying burning, looting, devastation and bloodshed. It may take the form of floods, hurricanes and earthquakes. Perhaps the most devastating of all forms is a desolating scourge resulting from an incurable plague. Biblical prophecy seems to foretell the latter.
As America plunges headlong into the abyss of moral and financial decay and as those who revel in it seem to take pleasure in it with little thought of the impending disaster, let it be known that their days are numbered and that those who are in power for gain and glory will soon not be there because there will be no gain and glory.
Let it also be known that there are many who will be spared this destruction, who will have built their houses upon a Rock, so that when the rains come and the winds blow, they will stand firm and true. And who will be there to help lead America to its ultimate greatness? It will be leaders who have been proven in the fire of life, who have successfully withstood the onslaught of evil, having faith that the mercy and justice of God will help preserve America in the end. Surely, the remnant spoken of by Ezra Stiles will then welcome their leadership.
Reasons to be positive, encouraged, and prepared
Should we not then go on in so great a cause? Should we not then have reason to be positive and optimistic about the future of America? Yes, we must be prepared to see the cleansing of America happen. It may be a difficult period to endure, but have we not been told that if we are prepared we shall have no reason to fear? And who knows how many more souls can be converted to the freedom cause in the end as we continue to teach so many who begin to see the folly of the present leadership.
May these holiday times be one of renewal and optimism for you and your family.
